Gastroenterologist is a specialist who consults about gastrointestinal disorders. Abdominal ultrasonography can be performed right in the medical practice, if necessary. Additional tests can be performed in the clinic “Gaiļezers”. Gastroenterology covers a very large range of conditions, because it deals with all of the gastrointestinal system: the oesophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver and biliary ducts.
A gastroenterologist consults in the following cases: prolonged stomach ache that could or could not be related to eating, burning sensation, bowel movement disorders, prolonged nausea and vomiting, bloating, diarrhoea, bloody stool, heavy feeling in the abdomen.
