Ultrasonography

Ultrasound imaging (USG) is safe, painless, highly informative and quick diagnostic procedure allowing visualisation of various pathologies without any intervention.

Ultrasound imaging of abdominal cavity: allows examination of liver, kidneys, gall bladder, pancreas, spleen,prostate gland, large blood vessels, bladder, in some cases – enlarged lymph-nodes. It allows detection of inflammatory processes, kidney stones,gallstones, various types of formations.

Thyroid ultrasound imaging: allows determination of the size and structure of the thyroid gland, to detect nodes in it.

Gynaecological ultrasound imaging: allows detecting of gynaecological diseases.

Ultrasound imaging of the mammary glands: allows detecting of cysts, other formations in breasts, which can help start treatment at an early stage of the disease.

Pregnancy ultrasound imaging: investigations at different stages of pregnancy; helps to identify early complications of pregnancy as well as congenital fetal abnormalities.

Ultrasound imaging of the lymph nodes and large salivary glands: helps determine the size and structure of the lymph-nodes and the salivary glands.

Ultrasound imaging of the prostate and testicles: reveals the presence of various malignant and benign processes in these organs.

Preparing for an ultrasound imaging:

  • Ultrasound of the mammary glands, thyroid, neck, kidneys, testicles, peripheral blood vessels and fetus: no particular preparation is required;
  • Ultrasound imaging of the abdominal organs: on an empty stomach (do not eat at least 6-8 hours before the procedure); drink only water; you may take your daily medicines by swallowing them with water.
  • Ultrasound imaging of the bladder: drink approx. 1 litre of fluid about 1 hour before the examination.Until the examination, the bladder should not be emptied.

During ultrasound examinations, you can get consultations with an urologist, an endocrinologist, a gynaecologist, an oncologist, a gastroenterologist in case of detected pathologies.

The radiologist performs ultrasound examinations using GE Voluson, Myndray high-class ultrasound imaging equipment.
